Lyndsey Constable, Fast Food

Theme #1, FAST FOOD

Fast food seduces my temptations.

Stefanie Daugilis, Theme 1: Fast Food

The concept behind this image is basically the idea that "Fast Food" is typically never "Healthy Food". Food at these restaurants aren't as healthy as these fresh carrots and beans seen here. Even though Fast Food Restaurants like Mcdonalds has new items on their menus that are considered healthy,(for example their salads and yogurts) but how healthy are they really?

Savannah Onofrey - Fast Food

We no longer care about how fresh our food is, but how fast we can get it.

Because of our growing impatience and laziness fast food is dominating the
amount of fresh food we eat in our daily lives.

A. Sinclaire: Fast Food

I hope this idea is fairly straight forward. The burger is a pin cushion, there's a french fry garland in the back ground. It's safe to say my idea is sewing based. It was simply an odd fantasy I had while I was skimming sewing-sites.

The idea behind this is the strangeness of food and perhaps a comment on our approach to food.  The dangers of fast and processed foods are no secret to any of us, but despite the looming health implications associated with these foods we continue to indulge.  Realistically, and I am speaking for myself as well, as long as the food tastes good the chances of our feeling bad or reconsidering our diets are pretty low.  So what I present and attempted to render are examples of the clash between what we should and what we do eat, and also what I think is a decent concept of our dieting rationale.  It's the healthy choice, but with a little bit of the good stuff.  Like eating a Hagen-Daas bar after a run or buttering the pan before you make bacon.

Meagan Christou - Fast Food

Our faithful devotion to fast food.

I like the 'roughness' of this photo, the natural light etc. All things I would like to keep. However, I am not a fan of the shift right of center of the food. The floor I was working with is very old so it was impossible to align correctly, so I'm not sure if it takes away from the 'directness' of this image. I am also aware that the back left corner is a little wonky... I had to remove a freezer. Very possibly I'll have to reshoot this image. Feedback, feedback feedback :)

Somewhat of a pun intended to show how we try to keep food fresh but with fast food it will never ever go bad. Ha.

Nathan Dunn
Pieta:

I wanted to put a modern twist on Pieta using fast food; or rather I wanted to place fast food in the position of the holy mother and child.  I think the idea is pretty blunt, so I will just give a short spiel. I hear, continually, how certain fast food – usually McDonalds – is heavenly or (obviously hyperbolized) Jesus himself or God. I liked this idea and have decided it would be interesting to create this visually. The image is backlit with a 60-watt bulb and the cord is edited out (I edited the image under the calibration we did in mikes class and it looks good on my computer: Tell me if you can see my edits please). I like the BW image, as I wanted to portray the image as moody but have since been convinced that the color image is more effective.  The middle image is simply softer and warmer.
What do you think??

Essay End...

I lied... Just in case you don't know what Pieta is...
