Exotic - Katya Koroscil

For the last week I have been considering the theme and had gotten inspiration from my mother who is a jewellery designer. I chose to play around with exotic jewellery, positive and negative space as we are learning in Alex's class. I feel as though every culture can relate with jewellery, may it be for religious reasons or simply for expressing yourself.
- I had also shot this in 4x5 but considering the timing i shot digital as well.

  1. A bit nit picky, but the shadow on her shoulder seems a little heavy. It would be nice if there was a bit more of a subtle gradation up the back of her shoulder instead of a pool of shadow. Could honestly even be something to play with with a mask in photoshop or just some dodging and burning in Lightroom or Aperture (instead of re-shooting). Everything else is wicked.

  2. I really like the way you've positioned this! I love the rule of thirds looks really cool :) I don't think i have anything "critique" to say about it.. I like how you've used black and white it doesn't distract from the topic :) Good Job :)

  3. I love the negative space you created, and the way the model is looking down, and not directly at the camera.

    Love it =)

  5. Everything about this is nice! However I would love to see you play with some colour. I find the black and white unnecessary, and detracts away from the exotic feel. Use the colour to really pop the colours in the jewellery, and use a colourful backdrop to compliment them.
