Tyler Webb - Fast Food Theme
Hey All!
So I love playing with speed lights and doing high speed photography. The 'fast' food pun in that might be a little too much to handle, but I wanted to stay as far away from the 'fast food kills us' theme as possible and be more playful with it.
I'm not sure which composition I like. I like the vertical emphasis of the second shot, but I think it's too closely cropped compared to the first shot. And the fact that the sprinkle donut isn't totally in focus bugs me.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Okay I know I'm not in your section, but this is so cool! Very playful. It looks like they are floating in zero gravity. I think I like the first one for its simplicity, as the second one is a little busy. But then, i also like the second one because you can see the sprinkles, and it looks less like an advertisement because of the ripped up bits.
ReplyDeletei'm in favour of the first one, composition-wise. the shredded honey crueller (i think?) disrupts all the other whole donuts, and kind of breaks the composition up in a negative way. i wish i could actually see the toppings of them in the first one (like the sprinkle donut!). it would add a lot of colour to the black bg and white icing sugar. i really like the motion and reflection. great idea! dying for donuts right now. x
DeleteI like the second one better. Maybe try a different background? like it falling off onto the kitchen floor or something? or a coloured background?

I prefer the second one better! I agree with the comment above about trying a different background like being in a kitchen just to give it some context!

Loving the literal version. I like the second one. (Pick me pick me) because you've created a foreground, midground and background with your focusing (which is a really cool achievement with highspeed photography, I think) which gives the image activity even though the donuts have been seemingly 'stopped in time' . The highlights are a little blown out with that one donut and I can see some trim? or edging in your backdrop. I think the image is successfully executed, well done!
ReplyDeleteHey Tyler! I really like the 2nd image for the variety of objects. I think that black background and the reflection really gives the picture a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteI really like the second one, because like said above, the variety. It really stands out and the doughnut attracts my eye. But I really like the composition of the first one also!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job with these shots!!
