Excuse me I think I might just take this image and use it for my website and take credit for it..oh wait.
The mix of colours are really nice, they compliment each other very well. It may just be the quality of the photo on the website but it looks a little blurry on the face? It might just be me though. Nice shot Annika!
I feel like this photo could do better with a different composition. And I'm not too sure about the focus either, but I really like what you chose to shoot. Also, hello watermark!
I really like this image. But I have to agree with Mithila little changes would really bring things together. Maybe you need more dynamic of a background. But HELLO WATERMARK! :P
I love your explanation for this. I like the composition and love the colors used for the backdrop; the twirl of the fabric directly behind the mask is particularly nice as I feel the swirl leads the eye downward. I find that although the mask (head) is centred the bright color of the fabric helps prevent the eye from just hitting the subject and nothing else.
The only suggestion that I would make: try playing with dramatic lighting. I would love to see what this situation would look like with strong shadows. I think the grooves and texture of the stone used for the masks construction, followed by the slightly reflective fabric, would be fun to fool around with.
Other than that, I think its wonderful. Loved the water mark, loved the comments on the watermark and adored the photo.
The varying fabrics and textures make this photo a bit more dynamic which is good. However the lighting and angle make this photo feel like an advertisement for the head and therefore simplifies the subject. So you can take Nathan's idea and play with the lighting OR you can do something fun! And throw this head out into the real world. I think of statues like this in a forest. You can really play with shadows and lighting when you are in a 'treed' area.
Jess, your comment had me laughing out loud at two in the morning, lol!
Hmmm..yeah the focus on the face seems a little blurry, but I like the composition and colours used. But like Nathan said, maybe different lighting can add to the piece?

ReplyDeleteI don't think this is working, it's quite generic....just feels like a product shot. I think your interpreting the theme far too literally.
