"as soon as you forbid something, you make it extraordinarily appealing. you also bring shame in as a phenomenon."

exploring different kinds of beauty (flowers, human body, attraction etc+), which often can be tied with shame and/or feeling shameful.
(side note: jock sturges is an amazing photographer and it's worth the five seconds to google if you don't know him/his work. i'm not trying to emulate, nor was i particularly inspired by his work for this, but i was by the quote alone. :)

I am flipping out about this as wayne speaks! ok. Its awesome in every way. The color of the lighting is so amazing: its completely compliments the flowers, or the flowers compliment the lighting. The brighter colored flowers completely pop from the rest of the image.
ReplyDeleteMakes my think of Dionysus and the shame that follows his related themes of power.
I do not see anything that needs improvement. Awesome.

Again - agreed with Nathan! You've used a great colour palette. The way the light falls on his right arm and across the top of his chest is also really nice - it has a sort of painterly quality. The whole image is very soft and romantic, whilst quirky at the same time. Awesome job. :)

A bewitching portrait! It's very hard not to stare at it, and therefore I can feel the shame of being beckoned by an alluring image, well done. Colours, light are all gorgeous. Positioning of the model with the hand on the knee is very pleasing, one of the exceptions to the- don't put things in the corner rule, because of how centred he is.
ReplyDeleteI do not like that I can see the stool, and 'hardware' (belt, rings, bracelet) I feel that these hard elements ruin the seductive nature of this photo.
Other than that, successfully executed!
I think this photograph has a really nice colour palette, from the choice of flowers, to the purple lit backdrop.
ReplyDeleteI would actually like to see some more shots from this photo shoot!

Love the colors and the contrast between shadow and highlights here... Plus your subject has this perfect gaze I can only really describe as wistful discontent. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDelete- Mithila.
Wow, I love the colours and the shadows! good job!

This is definitely one of those photos that needs to be seen physically to reach it's full potential, can't wait to see it! Wicked stuff.
