Fionn Luk - Theme #5 - Fantasy

When life gets hard, I imagine or wish the best possible thing that can happen.

  1. I love how warm and inviting the space is in the image, although I think it may be a bit too centred and the subject looks too stiff. And because the sun is right above the subjects head my eyes are drawn there immediately. The texture of the curtains are really nice though, flows nicely with the overall warm and inviting- very soft feeling to it.

    1. The picture concept is very strong and fits the theme very well.

I like how the horizon line matches with the line of sight and the clean look of the curtains.

I would just re-mask the outline of the subject and the curtains. It is faded on the edge on some parts and in particular there is haloing on the torso. I would suggest NOT using the soft eraser or magic wand and just mask it the old fashioned way- polygonal lasso at high magnification for better accuracy.

I also feel the striped shirt also takes away from the unity of the picture. A flowing white garment, dress, sweater, even t-shirt would really compliment the softness and pure looking feeling of the curtains.

Silhouetting the subject could draw more attention to the awe inspiring view. This will focus the sense of wanting to be in such a beautiful place, a fantasy.

Good job I really like the concept and feel that tweaks will only make it even better

  2. I actually like the stripped shirt working against the waves. A big flowy dress might be too much fabric and take away from the effect of the curtains. Definitely some masking problems that need to be resolved, but that just comes with playing it some more. Also, I almost want to see a bit more, pull back so we can see right to feet and more expanse of sea. I think it would emphasize the sky even more, by having it be a slighter slit of colour/light.

  3. This photo makes me excited for summer, haha!

I love the warm tones and how gentle everything is. But I agree with Stef in that the sun is in a distracting position. My eye keeps going there. I really like the way the light flows through the curtains at the top! :)
