Fantasy - Claire Harvie

  1. I love the way this is lit. The two different spots of sunlight along with the different levels in this photo give it such a nice balance. Also the trail of what looks like clouds at the top of the photo add a really quaint sense of content. The only thing I would maybe do something about is the overexposure of the plants on the bottom left, but otherwise, this is awesome.

  2. Very clean and minimalistic. I like the play on lines, shapes in the objects.

However I feel that the lines can be straightened up in cropping and post/editing (i.e. the vent, and picture frame look slightly tilted.) I would also get rid of the sofa completely it really doesn't fit with all the other shapes and prevents flow since it makes the image look too cluttered.

I would also crop part of the left hand side were the crease of the wall shows. I feel that if the crease was cut out the top bar (painting of clouds and sky would make the photo look like a roofless house. It will also play with the repeating straight lines of the vent, painting, highlights etc.

Just minor details in my personal taste, I do think you did a good job and think it is successful

  3. This photo is so simplistic, and I think that is the reason why I like it so much. The shadows that are produced by the sun spots are a great add to the scene, and I feel that without it this image wouldn't be as intriguing. I also like the little piece of clouds at the top of the image, and how it mimics the clouds within the photograph on the right. Its that small detail that also makes the photo interesting. It took me a while to notice that visual connection, but once I did I thought it was quite ingenious.

  4. I wouldn't neccesarily crop to get rid of the wall, I might just do some shopping to remove the impression of the corner's line. Might bring up the brightness on the couch so it doesn't act like a giant darkness leading off the image but I do like the colour stripes of it. Agree on bringing the plants down a bit. Also, I might try to take out the soft shadow of the couch on the wall, it creates a bit too much of a gradient for the eye to follow into the darker corner of the photo and doesn't visually go with the sharp lines created by the sunlight.

All in all a great image with minor tweaks.

  6. Claire, this is great! But I can see your shadow on the left, which I would edit out somehow.
