Mithila Majithia -- Theme 3: ICON

Hi there everyone,

So my concept for this theme was to pick the maple leaf as my 'icon' since it's a globally recognized symbol of Canada. I decided to shoot a portrait and styled my model [she's from Ottawa] in a true mid 80's North American way. Essentially I just wanted this photo to be a playful portrait that made use of my icon of choice and integrated it into the elements of the portrait.

I have two photos that I couldn't decide between, so I'll leave it up to you, although I was always leaning towards the first one.

Thanks for your feedback!

- Mithila.

  2. Yes I agree with Carrie! I like the first one and think it works well! Kind of playful too! Great lighting!

  3. I agree with both Carrie and Stef. :) The movement is much more interesting - the drape of the hair over the left eye, the placement of the arm, the framing. The one thing I get stuck on is how you can see her hand behind her head. It looks like a bump in the hair. Maybe crop the top just that tiny little bit?

This is just looking a bit cheesy at this point....like a Canada day beer ad. I would re-think your approach.
