Alright so here's my theme of "fantasy". As soon as I thought of fantasy, unicorns and fairy dust and all that jazz came to mind. Here are my marvellous photoshop skills, I feel it could use some work. I took so many but came down to these two, I really hope you have some critical feedback.
-Lynds suggested I lower the saturation a bit on the horse, which is now the second photo!
Let me know which you like best!

UPDATE:
or
which crop do you like best? Ive toned down the horse a lot to make it fit in better with the environment, but I kept the shade of purple
I'm initially drawn more towards the second one, and I want to spend more time looking at them before I say that one is better than the other. There are qualities I like about each of them, but I have to think about how to work what I'm thinking so I'll come back to it!
ReplyDeleteBut for now I just wanted to say that I really like the outcome of these. They remind me of some weird, kitchy type of old-school etching or something. Something you'd see on the notebook of a 13 year old in the 80's. It reminds me of when people used to paint on film to give it colour. The unicorn looks like it's made of velvet or like it's the horse of another colour from the Wizard of Oz.
Maybe try echoing the effect in the background a little more? Or try making the setting just as fantastical (yep, I used that word) as the way you've edited the unicorn?

I really like the idea of this!
ReplyDeleteThe purple though is throwing me off. Maybe a different shade of purple or a different colour in general? Try that out.
I really enjoy the idea of unicorns makes me wish I could have one, and that they are real!
It also looks like the horse was cut out and then pasted in the background image. But that could be a result of the purple.
I still really like where went with this idea and I really like it :)
Good Job

Okay, this is going to sound weird,
ReplyDeletebut I would prefer the 2nd image with the purple hue, but without the unicorn.
I feel like the feeling I get from the landscape alone.
Just me though!

Ive been playing around with photoshop, what if I made the unicorn white? and toned down the back ground a bit?
ReplyDelete-Stef
I really like the play of the purple to green in the last one. I think if you could work on that with the first two photos you could get a really interesting result. This is one of those cases where you've gone in a direction (crazy coloration / fantasy world) and you need to be fearless in going all the way with it. Get that background as crazy as the unicorn, make it a world where you might expect a unicorn to live.
ReplyDeleteSuch a random idea, caught me off guard, gooooo crazy with it!
Ahaha, was not expecting this!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tyler. Make the background crazy too! But I like the shade of the horse. The toned down saturation definitely works better! :)
