So for fantasy, the first thing I thought of to photograph are the Scarborough Bluffs. The landscape and atmosphere always felt so fantasy-like to me, especially when I went there for the first time.
I originally wanted a sunset in this shot but the weather these past couple of days was a butt so I had to deal with the clouds :( But I like the way they look in this photo.
Thant's all :)
who's is this?
ReplyDeleteThe texture in the clouds are really great! Its a bit too dark for my liking but I think the perspective works really well. Its a great representation of someones mood, Im not too sure fantasy fits.

I like this landscape. It works in the fantasy theme because it gives off a strong feeling of the sublime.
ReplyDeleteThe cloud formations are really unique and I like how the shapes turned out. Some clouds are bigger then the other and it gives good unity to the objects on the land. (i.e. in the foreground the rocks are big and when fading into the distance the shapes are smaller). It gives off a connection from the clouds to the ground.
Crop the bottom to get rid of the green grass trail. This will take out any context of where you were when you took the shot and it will also give more focus to the gray hill right above it. It will also have more uniform shapes i.e. the gray hill is similar in form to the water patch on the bottom right and it is also big in relation to some of the clouds. This will give the image contrast yet more unity.
Definitely use levels and dodging masks to brighten parts of the sky to make it pop even more. I think it is the most important part of the image. Adding brightness will make it look more surreal. And also maybe brighten the big rock cliff and hill so the image won't look underexposed. The rest of the ground I do not mind the brightness/darkness as is.
Maybe even an HDR look in post to really bring out detail?
I like the image it really resembles the look of a painting, unique shot

ReplyDeleteThe photo really works for Fantasy!
ReplyDeleteLove the view and the look of the clouds.
The only thing that I would change is maybe lightening up the photo a bit, especially the bottom of the photo.

Agree on the brightening, could do a lot with some levels adjustments. Also, I find the right side of the photo and the landscape features there much more interesting. Maybe a crop something like this?

I like the sense of depth the photography creates.
ReplyDeleteI think its okay if you leave the lighting because the viewer can tell what time of day it is. It's also nice that you can see the lights dimming as if its almost time to turn out the lights in the city
