James Morley. Theme #3. Icon
Icon: A person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something.
In this case, the icon is the crowd of people, symbolizing civil unrest and upset in Barcelona. The apartment where my friends and I were staying was only blocks away from some legislative buildings, and one night around 2 AM, thousands (literally thousands) of people marched up our street chanting and yelling, on their way to a protest against the government. The tremendous energy and vast sea of people was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and even though I couldn't actually understand what the protesters were saying, the mob scene spoke for itself.
I'll most likely reshoot something that both applies to the theme a bit more and has substantially less noise sometime soon, but for now, tear it up!

Unique idea! So lucky you were able to go somewhere interesting to shoot for your blog! I think the idea of people being your icon is really interesting and i love all the different light sources that are seen in the picture-it makes it dynamic and fun.

I like the slight lack of focus, and how it takes away the peoples faces, giving them a sense of anonymity. One thing you might want to fix is the bits of flare at the top. Otherwise - I like the idea, looking good! :)

ReplyDeleteI agree that this may not fit well with the theme. It's an interesting image in that it documents a particular event, but outside of that context it loses its interest.
