Well, I think the image speaks for itself.
I find myself getting sloppy as the final days of the second term count down. Take what you will of this image, the intent was to show disorganization, but one can easily interpret hoarding as a topic.

I like the light hearted and personal take on this theme.
ReplyDeleteTHe thing that I feel works most in this image is how the environment (the door, walls, floor) is very geometric and angular. The mess however is organic and spontaneous in shape/texture. One thing I would looooove to see as a re-shoot is for you to play on the idea that this mess sort of looks like a snake coming out of the closet. It's like your shame is worming it's way out from behind a door which is meant to be closed, but you can't keep it in anymore. You're airing your dirty laundry (pun TOTALLY intended)! I would love to see this pulled back, with more open space, and this mess creeping out of the closet into this well kept, clean area. Personify it. It'll give it a really cool dynamic as opposed to being a photograph of just the mess.

I completely agree with Helen. Zooming out and giving the mess more space to snake around would be a very good idea. I understand a close crop to make the space feel claustrophobic. However the exaggeration of the organic mass edging out in the the geometric clean room is a very good suggestion by Helen. I would follow through with that idea on a reshoot.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know you like a flat colour palette, but be careful with this image, I feel brighter colour selection could be more beneficial with this idea.
I agree with Helen with zooming out. I find the contrast between the geometric and organic forms interesting too!
ReplyDeleteInteresting take!
