Stef Daugilis #3: Shame
I'm not sure if I'm happy with this image entirely but it's kind of what I pictured in my head. Im not sure if the crop is suitable but Id like some opinions on it! Inside her eyes are pills, and its supposed to represent her struggle she has with them. What I wanted to get across in the image is that she is extremely shameful of her addiction. She sleeps, thinks, eats, sees drugs. She is drugs. I washed out the colour a lot because I felt it worked better. Let me know what you think! :)
I also felt the pills were a little too cliche, and I took into consideration what Tyler had said! I also brightened it up but kept the same over all colour cast!

ReplyDeleteI think it's just too illustrative and obvious at this point. The pill thing is hard to do without it becoming cheesy and cliche. Having the layers helps create the notion of a fragmented personality but I think you need to rethink it a bit. Perhaps use the layers in some way to introduce the pills without it being as overt.

This is kind of creepy, never knew you had it in you stef :P
ReplyDeleteI also think its a little much, I also think that the colour cast in it is just a little dark and cool, maybe if you warmed it up and lightened it, it might give a different feel.
This photo makes me feel a little uncomfortable.. haha maybe you could try something that has to do with steroids or supplements, because we all know not all of them are great. You could have a series of photos of body builders or just guys who are muscular then a picture of a needle or then the pills..
Just some things to think about, but i do like the idea behind it :)
Good Job

I think this image could actually work with just a black hole instead of the pills. It would be a 'look deep into my person, see my shame laid bare' kind of idea. Agree that it's dark, but really enjoy the overall colour cast to it. Also, it would need to be brighter to really emphasize the blackness of her empty eye.
ReplyDeleteLove the layer work.
