Jacob Burt - Theme - Icon

Hello Everyone,
Sorry for late posting, but I needed to arrange a time to get a shoot with the car. So for my icon shoot I chose to take chance and shoot a James Dean inspired Photograph. I did some research and took major aspects of his life and make them apparent in my picture. I used the same Porsche that he owned (and died in), I had my model wear black, and lastly I incorporated smoking something he was fairly known for doing. I tried to get the feel of the age and of James Dean.
Well I guess thats it, cant wait to get some feedback. Thank you.

  1. The crop of this photo is very interesting, and adjusts are focus accordingly, from the car and the actions of the model, so my eye is moving in a subtle arc.

The sepia tone was an appropriate choice for the 'mood' of the photograph.

Although I know you are going for the 'classic' look I would try shooting this photo with an extreme variation of poses. Perhaps the model could be in the car, or you could shoot from the other side so the car is in between you in the model. You can really play with the positioning and therefore how we view the image.

  2. I love the whole theme of this photograph, and the decision to crop the face of the model.

  3. I especially love the contrast between the leather shoes and the textured ground.

  4. I really like this one!

the angle of the car and the person really mesh together, and give a great depth to the photo. I also like the fact that you can't see the guys face, it makes me want to pull the image down and see who is in the photo.

The way you've cropped this also works well with your idea.

The only thing I might want to fix is the position of the guys left hand on his hip.. Looks slightly awkward and out of place, maybe if it was on him knee against his leg would look more natural?

Other than that the photo is great and I really like the idea, just minor adjustments and it could be an amazing photo :)

  5. I love the contrast between the man's outfit and the car! I also think the crop works well and I like how you don't show his face.
